What better way to start the holiday season than with a Christmas cocktail named after the jolly old elf himself? With a coconut rim and vibrant red color, this Santa’s Hat Christmas Cocktail will most definitely deliver on the holiday cheer!
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year … With the kids jingle belling and everyone telling you be of good cheer … It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
And what a great way to bring on the good cheer than with a cocktail named after the jolly old man himself?
Well, it is not named after Santa himself, however instead after a piece of his ever-classic crimson suit ~ Santa’s hat. And what a delicious cocktail it is to start the holiday season of cheer!
With a coconut rim to simulate the fluffy white trim, vibrant crimson color, and triangular form of the martini glass, this cocktail will be sure to make you think of Santa’s hat, doesn’t it? It’s an adorably and fun way to serve up holiday cocktails, for sure.
The Santa’s Hat cocktail itself is an easy combination of cranberry juice, coconut rum, and grenadine … which offers it a vibrant crimson color.
Grenadine additionally makes this cocktail on the sweet side … due to the fact grenadine itself is pretty sweet. I think of the taste as a great deal like grown-up cranberry Kool-Aid with a coconut flare!
Maraschino cherry juice can additionally be used as an alternative of the grenadine. The cocktail will simply be a little less sweet and not as vibrant crimson than when it is made with grenadine.
Making an enjoyable and festive Santa’s Hat cocktail is truly simple.
Start off by mixing some confectioners’ sugar and water on a small plate. Then dip the rim of a martini glass in the sugar combination … this will act as the glue to adhere the coconut onto the martini glass’s rim.
Immediately while the water and sugar combination is still wet, dip the rim of your martini glass in shredded sweetened coconut that you have prepared on a separate little plate.
Gently tap the rim of the martini glass into the coconut, you want to be able to get the coconut to adhere all over the rim.
Place cranberry juice, coconut rum {we use Malibu}, and grenadine in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Then strain the ingredients into the prepared coconut-rimmed martini glass.
That’s it!
You’ve got an exciting and festive little cocktail to assist you in having a good time this Christmas season.
If you would like to put together these Santa’s hat cocktails for a crowd instead of individually, it really is super easy to do. The cranberry combination can effortlessly be created in advance and refrigerated till serving time.
We’ve kept the combination of ingredients in the fridge for up to two or three days several times and they continue to taste great.
Coconut rims for the martini glasses can be made in advance, too, and then simply set aside. Once the sugar and coconut dry on the rim, the coconut will continue to be intact if the glass is not messed with too much. You could put saran wrap around the top of the martini glass to preserve as well.
So, kick back, take hold of a cocktail, and experience the most magical time of the year, everyone!

Our Home Bar Creations NOTES~
- This cocktail is on the sweet side (since grenadine is sweet). It’s a bit like grown-up cranberry Kool-Aid with a coconut flare.
- *Maraschino cherry juice can be used instead of grenadine. The cocktail will just be a little less sweet than when made with grenadine.
- The cocktail mixture can be prepared in bigger batches in advance and chilled in the refrigerator until serving time. We’ve stored it in the refrigerator for up to about 2 or 3 days just fine.
- Be aware that the peppermint stick/candy cane garnish will melt into the cocktail and change the taste. I personally think a little of the peppermint in the drink tastes good, but my husband absolutely doesn’t like it at all (he’s not a peppermint fan). If you’re not a peppermint fan, I recommend leaving off the garnish.
